The Lonely Continent
Pelor—god of sunlight, truth, and life—is by far the most popularly worshiped god in Urda. He is generally depicted as human, but his worship has spread to many other races; his followers believe him to be the most powerful god in Urda’s diverse pantheon. Zealous worshipers of Pelor tend to devote themselves to fields such as education, charity, agriculture, and medicine.
The veneration of Pelor takes various forms depending on region—the widespread nature of his church has resulted in the emergence of many different sects. In Areen, for instance, Pelor is the center of a monotheistic, state-sponsored church that caters exclusively to humans; every village and town is assigned a priest by the First Church located in the capital and every citizen is expected to “donate” annually. The church of Pelor in the Garic Federation, by contrast, is known primarily for its work with the poor and disenfranchised—orphans, the elderly, etc.—and is even rumored to be involved with the Circle of the Broken Shackle.
